‘N’ is the result of a commission by Mustang to link their shoe factory to the art gallery.

Being leather the main material they use at the factory, the whole project is focused around the skin, which relates the machines that manipulate it to the operators that control them.
In a production chain, where the same actions happen thousands of times and each step is linked to the previous and to the next, being that number directly related to how often the previous step was performed and influencing how many times will take place the next, time vanishes in routine, and it’s in the details of how the machine ages where the differences that make it unique get revealed, just as the operator behind it eventually shows traits of the relationship with that machine and the work they do together, being such unnoticed details the key to understand what happens there and how it happens.

Pictures of humanized machines that seem to pose for a classic portrait.
Pictures of bodies treated as machines, where the focus is upon specific elements and how its surface, its skin, has deteriorated over time by repeating the same action.
Generative drawings of cell systems which evolve over time creating skin patterns, drawings that confront the computer used to generate them and its technical implementation with a simple pen; highlighting the time, accuracy and repeatability that divide and join human and machine.

Although there was an exhibition at the Mustang art gallery, the project itself is the edition of a photo book with a different drawing engraved by laser on each cover.

Waves will be part of this international group exhibit that intends to explore the synthesis between image and sound, the different graphical and physical representations of sound, and its evolution in the context of contemporary art. It charts a course of the most representative artists and pieces of the last decade, also focusing on “visual music” experiments by artists from the beginning of the last century such as Oskar Fischinger and James Whitney. ‘Visualising Sound’ originated in the idea of generating dialogue among all of the pieces that make up the exhibition, spanning a century of creation based on the same idea or concept: to dominate the wave, represent and tame it; the need to go beyond the place where our senses have brought us, which is, after all, the essence of all art. It seeks to show the broadest possible spectrum of the multiple representations of sound, investigating the sound dimension of the spaces we live in.
